To the exhibition

The exhibition Wurst Case - Das(Den)Der (g)Der Rummel(n) der Klein(Geistigen) Stadt(Teile) is an artistic therapy session of six artists, which is lived through collectively. The starting point of the therapy was the examination of the topic of German small towns and their social reality, in which the artists have accumulated their experiences for years. 

In the context of its realisation and in the context of the therapy session, however, Wurst Case stands for more than condemning the dissatisfaction of Wurstolution (the half-hearted need for revolution of the disappointed middle class). On the contrary, the Wurst Case itself is a vessel for the assembly of dead ends and suddenly appearing clearings. The small-mindedness of many urban actors in both small and metropolitan environments, the hype of the intellectual expressions that converge, the acceptance of the banal, the pedantic to refined show of the interweaving of all actors in their industry-specific commissioned corsets, the protest against the known or diffuse higher and lower powers, all this culminates in the revue-like show of the artists‘ works.

The works focus on the immediate evaluation of social processes, devote themselves to them in critical protest or a mysteriously disturbing energy, or surrender themselves to the worship of the inadequately processed psychology of depth of the traumatically experienced with devotion.

About the artists

Herr Sell pursues the hyper-realistic accusation of the Bockwurst handover at the snack bar with the means of rubbing. The screwed-swollen affectation and artificial construction, which he assumes from many works in the artistic business, are far from him. He trusts the potential of the real and the real as sufficient material in which the work of art should manage without additional explanation or an intellectualized crutch.

Pastor Leumund expresses, among other things, his unease at the disappearance and waste of free space and resources in the urban field with the lovingly meant title „fuck your big project“. His work aims at the pleasurable regaining of communal responsibility and its concrete realization through the agitatory Dadaist word apparatus. The proposed solution „Aliens welcome“ points to the complexity of protest and despair, from the fusion of which the search for contact with the extra-planetary opposition seems to be the last hope.

A.A.A.#z0037-478 works successively between the moments of the individualistic-uniformed mass character and the appreciation of the human characters contained therein. Wherever the humanity and economic-insufficient adaptability of the individual appears on the scene, she sees in it the chance to attack the everyday life of the adapted behavioural building in these wounds of imperfection. Her accusation aims at the failure of obsolete visions whose substance takes up its dangerous path at the moment of their confusion. 

In his works, Avanti.garde resurrects the appreciation of the rejected. His attitude, reflecting the opposite, is fed by the need to avoid appropriation through meaningless and degrading conversations of conformity through two strategies. First, through the direct education of the subject in the one-to-one confrontation with his individual practice. Second, through the geometric-spiritual, color-aestheticized exaggeration of what is shown in its symbolic and at the same time object-like-fetishized commodity form.

In his works, Herr U plays the commentary-based and partly heretical game of confrontation between depiction of reality and subgestion of the process. The subordinating of a seen but not explicitly visible truth leads in his works to an increasing dialogue between representative speech and authentic reality on the ground of the always falsified facts. The voyage of discovery follows the anachronistic approach of working towards the primitive character of things with the help of primitive analytical methods that are considered obsolete.

In his works, A.A.A #B25-77-03k delivers the contradictory unity of a calm, socio-concrete view of content and its screamingly curious, but rarely funny appearance. He finds and defines his photographic motifs in the field of malice and the careful existence of the real. Here, in the grainy raw, contrast-rich absolute or soberly objective photograph, the contents of the statement come to different validity, since the photographer‘s emotional esteem or dissonant attitude towards the subject cannot be neutralized.
